Library Cards
Individuals who reside in Glenwood or Lynwood, with proof of residency, are eligible for a library card. Please bring a current photo ID and one current proof of residency to apply for a card. P.O. Boxes are not accepted.
Individuals under the age of 18 years of age are required to have a parent or guardian present when applying for a library card, and they must sign as the responsible party on the card. This signature signifies their acceptance of responsibility for the return of all materials checked out on the card, payment of any fine incurred on the card and for any damage causes to the materials checked out. Parents must provide proper ID and have current roof of residency.
The patron’s current library card, in good standing, must be presented to obtain materials. A patron whose card is lost or stolen should immediately report that information to the library. The patron is responsible for materials checked out prior to the card being reported lost or stolen.
Library cards are valid for three years, or until the patron moves from the library district. Cards will be renewed upon expiration if there are no current charges pending or overdues materials and with current photo ID and proof of address.
Digital Library Cards
Digital Library Cards are valid for one year, or until the patron moves from the library district for Ford Heights, Glenwood, & Lynwood residents. Cards will be renewed upon expiration by reapplying for a digital library card.

Borrowing
Renewals and Paying Fines:
You can pay fines using cash at the Library. For online payment with credit card, log in to your account (https://gws.swanlibraries.net/), select “Fines/Fees” and then “Pay Online.”
Your borrowing privilege is suspended when fines exceed $5. If you owe more than $5, you may be referred to a collection agency. An additional processing fee will be added to your account.
Loan Periods & Late Charges:
GLPLD cardholders may have up to 100 items checked out at one time (not counting eBooks and Audiobooks). Certain material types have restrictions on the number that can be borrowed. See Table below for details.
Items (except Video Games) may be renewed TWO TIMES if there are NO Holds.
